Advisor Partnerships
A Partnership Built Around Clients, Culture, and Alignment
Choosing a partner for your practice is about much more than a transaction. It is a decision about the people who will work alongside you, the experience your clients will have, and whether the firm you join shares the values that shaped the practice you built.
Montis brings a collaborative culture, deep fiduciary roots, and the people, technology, investment capabilities, and operating infrastructure to help a practice grow, transition, and serve clients at a higher level over the long term.
This page is for RIA owners and advisors exploring succession, partnership, or simply what the next chapter of their practice could look like.
Why Montis
Cultural fit is not a soft consideration. It is the foundation.
Every partnership eventually moves beyond a term sheet. The real test is whether the people on both sides can make decisions together, solve problems together, and stay aligned when the work becomes complicated.
That is where Montis has been strongest. In our partner survey, cultural fit was the factor that mattered most when partners compared Montis with other potential acquirers. Every partner we surveyed said they would make the same decision to join Montis again, and on average they rated their likelihood of recommending Montis to another RIA owner 9.67 out of 10.
We take that seriously. We have strived to build a firm of accomplished, principled professionals who put clients first, hold themselves to a high standard of execution, and value the colleagues they work alongside.

Our Roots
A fiduciary standard from the beginning. A platform built for what comes next.
The independent advisory channel was built by advisors who believed clients could be served better outside the traditional product-driven model. Montis has been part of that tradition since 1994, with fee-only planning and fiduciary advice at the center of the firm from the beginning.
The next evolution has been building the talent, systems, technology, investment resources, and operating depth required to extend that model through successful partnerships. New leadership beginning in 2021 accelerated that investment—not to change what made independent advice valuable, but to create a firm capable of delivering it at greater scale.
The result is a fully integrated firm designed around alignment: the business should work for our partners, our teammates, and most importantly the clients we serve.
What Partnership Means Here
We treat partners like partners
No two Montis partnerships have looked exactly alike. That is intentional.
We work collaboratively with each owner to design the financial structure, transition timeline, integration plan, client communication, and long-term role that fit the practice and the people involved. Some owners are preparing to step back. Others want to keep growing for years. Some want more time with clients; others want more time outside the business.
The common thread is that the process is built with you—not handed to you after the documents are signed.
Customized Partnership Design
Economics, timing, role, and transition structure are built around the circumstances of the practice rather than forced into a standard template.
Thoughtful Integration
The goal is one integrated Montis with shared standards and resources, while preserving the trust and continuity at the center of each client-advisor relationship.
A Transition Built Around Clients
For many owners, the question that matters most is whether they will still be proud of the decision when they see these clients five years from now. We design the transition with that responsibility in mind.
What Montis Adds
More resources for clients. More time for advisors.
A partnership should create more than financial value. It should improve the day-to-day experience for clients and give advisors greater capacity to focus on the work that matters most.
Broader Client Support
Financial planning, investment management, compliance, operations, and client service resources working together around the relationship.
Time Back
Less time spent on technology, compliance, administration, and back-office complexity—and more time available for clients, growth, or better balance.
Investment and Planning Depth
Specialized talent and institutional-quality resources that an advisor can bring into a client relationship without having to build every capability independently.
Operational Execution
People, systems, and processes designed to make integration work in practice—not just on a transaction model.
The Client Experience
Fully integrated without losing the relationship that made the practice valuable
The client-advisor relationship is often the most valuable asset in an advisory practice. Integration should expand the value clients receive while making sure every client still feels like the only client.
Montis is designed so clients can benefit from a broader bench of planning, investment, service, and operational talent while continuing to feel known. The advisor who built the relationship remains central to the transition, and knowledge is deliberately transferred so clients are supported well beyond any one individual.

Who We Partner With
Different goals. The same need for a partner you can trust.
Succession-Minded Owners
You have spent years caring for clients and want confidence that they will remain in a client-centric fiduciary firm long after you begin stepping back. Montis provides a long-term home, a thoughtful transition, and a next generation of talent supported by the broader firm.
Growth-Oriented Advisors
You want to keep building, but compliance, technology, operations, and administration are consuming time that could be spent on clients, growth, or life outside the office. Montis adds the infrastructure and talent so your time can move back toward your highest priorities.
M&A-Curious Owners
You may not be ready to transact at all. You may simply want to understand how partnership structures work, what your options are, and what questions you should be asking. We are happy to start there.
Our Ambition
Build a firm that clients, teammates, and partners rave about
Growth is not the objective by itself. The objective is to grow in a way that compounds what we can deliver to clients: deeper talent, better technology, stronger investment and planning resources, more resilient operations, and greater opportunities for the people who serve them.
- A culture people want to join — High standards, a collaborative mindset, healthy competition, and people who enjoy performing excellent work together.
- Growth that increases client value — Scale should create more capability for clients, not distance from them.
- A home for great advisors — A place where experienced advisors can keep doing their best work and the next generation can develop with real mentorship and support.
- Long-term alignment — Decisions are made with clients, partners, teammates, and the durability of the firm in mind—not around a short transaction timeline.
Partner Perspective
The best evidence is what our partners say after the deal
“Montis made me feel my long-term client relationships were important—its leadership valued trusting, client-centered relationships.”
