Jay Bragdon is a senior financial advisor at Montis Financial. His primary responsibilities include relationship management, investment oversight, and portfolio management for Montis’ clients’ families.

Jay has served as an investment advisor to high-net-worth families for more than 40 years. A pioneer in the field of corporate sustainability, he co-chaired the first national symposium on ethics and investment at the Harvard Business School in 1972 and has worked continuously to expand this field. Jay emphasizes the stewardship of “living assets”—the well-being of people and nature—as the primary source of economic value creation.

In 1995, he created the Global Living Asset Management Performance (LAMP) Index, a learning lab for corporate leaders in living asset stewardship. The success of companies in this Index inspired his three books: Profit For Life (2006), Companies That Mimic Life (2016), and Economies That Mimic Life (2021).

Jay earned a B.A. from American University’s School of International Service and an M.A. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He has served on the board of the Sustainability Institute, co-founded by Donella Meadows, and is a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science.

Jay and his wife Jeanne live in Woodstock, VT where they pursue their interests in gardening, wildlife habitat and the growth of their 7 grandchildren. Before moving to Vermont, Jay’s love of river systems extended to the sport of rowing, where he competed throughout Europe and North America.
